What Products To Use After Your First Below The Waist Service

Hi lovelies! ❤ Today, let’s chat about below the waist services and the best products to use afterwards! There are soooo many options for products!

My advice is to start off with one product - my favourite is a scrub! If that doesn't work, change or add serums from there 😊

Everyone's hair is different. It grows at different rates, in different directions, and has different textures. Some may experience sensitivities, hyper pigmentation (from shaving, picking their skin, etc.), or nothing at all. All of our skin is unique; but share one thing in common. Yeah, you guessed it - all skin types need exfoliation! Since our skin is so diverse, there are different regimes to follow!

After your first wax, stick with one form of the following exfoliation applications: Scrub or Mitt

Scrubs

I personally always recommend a salt scrub vs. sugar. Sugar can mess with your pH; so if you are prone to infections, stay away from sugar! Salt takes longer to dissolve under water, so I find I get a better exfoliation and I can use less product! I suggest that you get a scrub that is oil based. The oil will moisturize your skin, preventing dry skin build up that can cause bumps and ingrowns. The salt scrub applied in circular motion lifts the hairs preventing ingrowns, and removes build up on your skin. Wait until your skin is no longer tender to touch post waxing. This could be 2 or 5 days. Please follow the cues from your own body, not what your friend does! Exfoliate 2-3 times per week.

My scrub recommendation…

My personal favourite scrub is the Honey Lavender Sea Salt Scrub by Farmhouse Fresh! This scrub is made from the finest-grained, fresh sea salt. Lightweight, non-greasy, so addictively yummy, you’ll keep a jar by every sink and bathtub!

  • Rice Bran Oil, Natural Sea Salt harvested from U.S. shores, and Vitamin E

  • Natural Sea Salt removes dead skin, providing better penetration of other products. This stimulates renewal of skin texture!

  • Rice Bran Oil has a high concentration of vitamin E and potent skin antioxidants. This helps to nourish and moisturize the skin!

Mitt

In combination with a pH balanced body wash for a glide while exfoliating, mitts are great because they are typically double sided! They have a finer side and a more abrasive side. This gives you more options for different levels of exfoliation. Start with the finer side the week or 2 after waxing, and then switch over to the more abrasive side once hairs are growing in. The mitt doesn't dissolve in the water like a scrub. This means that you aren't going through a ton of product and the level of exfoliation stays consistent. The mitt typically lasts longer with proper care, and you can wash your mitt in the washing machine. The cons: If you don't follow proper hygiene with your mitt, you could have bacteria grow on it. This bacteria will go into your pores when exfoliating. This will cause bumps, irritation, and ingrowns. I find it's best to use with a wash, so you aren't pulling at your skin. You will need something to use in combination with your mitt.

My mitt recommendation…
My personal favourite is the Mitt Trio by Fur. Pair the mit with my go to body wash, which is Nourishing Body Wash (unscented) by Bush Balm!

  • Originally exclusive to our best-selling Ingrown Concentrate, our fan favourite finger mitt is now available on its own! This is a three-pack of reusable (hellllllooooo eco-friendly!) textured finger mitts which buffs away dirt and debris. The textures allow you to prep your skin for the rest of your routine. Each mitt is dual-sided, with a softer side for polishing sensitive skin and a more textured side for buffing rougher spots.

How To Use

In the shower, dampen your mitt with water. Use your favourite pH balanced body wash and exfoliate! The mitt is dual-sided, with a softer side for polishing sensitive skin and a more textured side for buffing rougher spots. Hang the mitt on its loop to dry, and machine wash as needed.

  • Exfoliating with the finger mitt works best on wet skin. For full body exfoliation, it's easier to do in the shower. If you'd just like to use it on your face, wetting your face in the sink is fine!

  • We recommend exfoliating 2-3 times per week. If you've recently removed hair, stick to using the softer side of the mitt for a few days to give your skin time to settle.

Bonus Multi Use for face as well: The finger mitt can be used as a standalone physical exfoliant! Use this as a way to prep your skin for product application. You can also pair with your favourite face wash to help lather and penetrate pores for a thorough cleanse!

Choose one of these options and stick with it for at least a month! New products need at least a month to see results. If you still have ingrown hairs, pimples, or irritation, we recommend adding serums to your regimen. Just like your face, your body needs products to target!
